Night Talk Deceive

Kano's sexy smirk is lovable.
After 7 months of waiting, finally the well-anticipated new song of Kagerou Project, Yobanashi Deceive aka Night Talk Deceive, is released!

English Subtitled by Amesubs

As the title suggested, this song told the story of Kano Shuuya, the third member of Mekakushi-dan. The tagline of this song is 'A Story of Deceiving One's Eyes', and 'A Story of a Creepy Liar'. If you only want to speculate and doesn't want to watch the subtitled video, Vgperson translated the lyrics here, just use ctrl+f to find it.

Song Impression:
I really love the beat even more than the older songs. I think it even surpassed Children Record and Headphone Actor which was my favorites.

PV Impression:
Shidu did his best. He really did improved since Children Record. This was really amazing, and you have to watch the video to understand! I really like the city landscape background, too, and the graffiti title card.

Speculations and questions (most are NOT confirmed & possible spoilers):
From what we could see, this song told about how Kano is a liar who fooled everyone using his ability to deceive.

'10 years ago, a monster swallowed my heart and told me to keep on lying', this part of the lyrics, this means something happened to Kano 10 years before the events of Kagerou Project. Considering Kano is around 16 years old (Kido is on that age too, so it made sense if Kano is around that age), that means he's around 6 and it's highly possible still in the orphanage during the time. Lots of fans speculated that a burglary occurred in the orphanage Kano, Kido and Seto was living in and made them got their powers, since it have been revealed that Ene and Momo got their power in a life-threatening situation. However, if that's the case, why does Kano even said in the lyrics that 'he have become a lying monster'? Didn't he got it out of self-defense?

One other interesting thing most the fan found is how in the PV, there was a Female!Kano and a Setolike!Kano, and that they appeared at the shot where Kido and Seto made cameos. This led to some speculations that Kido and Seto doesn't actually existed (or could be that they have died) and Kano just deceived everyone to see them living, but I don't think that was really the case. I've been thinking that Kano lied about something to Seto and Kido, and that female!Kano and Setolike!Kano was actually a representation of how Kano acts around them.

Previously I've been speculating that Kido's purpose of Mekakushidan was actually a lie Kano made up, and that Mekakushidan were just the gathering of teenagers with powers that doesn't really have an aim. The lyrics of Yobanashi Deceive strengthen this for me, so I still got it as my headcanon...

End of speculation.

Well, for me Yobanashi Deceive is really worth the wait. I wish the next songs of Kagerou Project would give more details regarding Kano, Kido and Seto's childhood since I'm really interested on it!

Also, it have been announced that the next song Jin uploaded will be something about Shintarou. It's title is 'Lost Time Memory'
